Step 1: Tape your empty to a steel stamping block.
The tape will hold your empty from moving around as you work, and the stamping block will protect your work surface. The block is also hard enough to permit the stamp to create a excellent impression on your blank.

Step 2: Beginning with the middle letter, stamp your expression or phrase one letter at a time.
I love to record out my message on a piece of paper first so I can easily identify the middle and spacing.

To do your stamping, hold the stamp vertically in your non-dominant hand with the ImpressArt logo facing you and the raised letter touching your empty.

Use your hammer to apply a firm tap to the top of the stamp. One excellent tap should be enough to create your impression.

Step 3: Apply enamel to the stamped portion of the cuff.
Whether you use the original version or the new marker, make certain that your letters are completely filled in. Let it dry for a few seconds/minutes as instructed on the packaging, then wipe off the excess using a soft cloth or paper towel. The enamel will remain in the stamped grooves, but easily wipe off the surface of the blank.

Step 4: Bend your empty into a cuff shape.
The easiest way to do this is with a bending bar.

Put one finish of your empty in the groove and gently press, causing the empty to form to the shape of the curved bar. Flip the empty over and repeat on the other finish. You can use Bracelet Bending Pliers instead if you prefer, but I discover the bar to give a more consistent shape.

Thats every there is to it! Your bracelet is ready to wear as a reminder of the things that are significant to you. Create just one or make a stacktheres no incorrect way to do it.

I know some of you might not desire to ponder about it just yet but Valentines Day is approaching.

Diy metal stamping ideas

I was thinking about DIYs for the holiday and I really love the thought of stamping spoons and pendants as gifts for someone you love. I always ponder the sweetest Valentines are the handmade ones, or the really subtle and thoughtful ones. Ive had a metal stamping kit for a while now, and this was the perfect use for it!

What you need: a metal stamp set (mine is made by Tekton and I ordered it from Amazon final year), a hammer, spoons, and metal pendants. I got my little pendants at A.C.

Moore, and for spoons I recommend checking thrift or antique stores!

Make certain you own a hard surface to do this project on. Be warned- if you do this on a coffee table, you may finish up with some dents! I did mine exterior on a sidewalk to be safe :). I found that this project was much easier on the little flat pendants, and a bit trickier on the curved spoons, but with a little practice its easy! Make certain to hold the stamp and the pendant/spoon as firmly as possible when hammering so that the stamp doesnt move around at all.

Make one for your loved one with a cute little phrase love wanna spoon and give it to them with their coffee in the morning!

Stamp the pendants with sweet phrases love loved or to the moon and back, or the initials of whomever youre giving it to!

My friend stamped hers with the Johnny Cash quote I hold a shut watch on this heart of mine.

I love it!

I dont know how it happened, but Im strangely addicted to metal stamping correct now.

Have you ever tried it?

Diy metal stamping ideas

Its helpful of awesome.

And now that I discovered it, Im stamping things love crazy necklaces, earrings, little braceletseverything. The process is a whole lot love leather stamping, which I remember having a similar reaction to when I first tried it. Theres something about using a hammer that makes me feel super official.

So, today, I thought I would share a tutorial for how to make your own DIY stamped message metal bracelets.

Diy metal stamping ideas

And to make things super simple, I also designed a new DIY kit for Darby Brilliant (that launched yesterday) that has every the materials you need to make your own. So you wont need to go searching for every the jewelry making and metal stamping supplies on your own. Yay. Super easy!

Want to make your own stamped bracelets? Heres how

Supplies:

This Darby Brilliant DIY kit that I designed has every the supplies you need to make your own set of bracelets. You get to select which metal you desire toocopper, silver, or brass. Copper and brass are my faves.

How-To:

1.

Start by placing a metal strip onto the metal block. Then collect every of the letters that youll need to create your message.

2.

Once you own the letters, you can start stamping. Turn the first alphabet stamp upside-down, so that the letter is touching the metal. Position the letter where you desire it and then hit the top of the metal stamp with the hammer included in the kit. It took me a couple of tries to get the hang of this, but here are a few tips to make this easier correct from the start

Make certain the stamp is straight up and below on the metal plate, so the letter will be stamped evenly (if its at an angle some areas of the letter may not get stamped). And hit the top of stamp fairly hard with the hammer, so you get a nice deep impression.

3.

Once youve completed your stamped message, its time to form it into a bracelet shape. Using the bracelet bending bar provided in the kit, put one finish of the stamped metal in the slit / holder area and bend the other side below, creating a curve. Repeat this process with the other finish of the stamped metal bar.

Now, you own the basic bracelet shape.

4. As a finishing touch, run a permanent marker over each letter indention and then wipe away any excess. The color from the marker will remain in the indention, so you can more easily read your stamped message or phrase. Just be certain to wipe off the excess marker immediately before it becomes permanent on the top part of the bracelet. It worked really well for me and I had no problems removing the marker from the top, non-indented areas.

But I thought it was worth the reminder to mention it.

And thats it.

Now its ready to wear.

If you can read any of the messages and phrases on the finished bracelets, youll see that I got a little creative with some of the bracelets.

My favorite bracelet message was Cat Lady, but I had a few inspirational phrases in there for excellent measure as well. And after photographing the bracelets shown in the photos, I made a couple more with ancient song lyrics (Baby Got Back, anyone?) and the obligatory Haters Gonna Hate.

You could also stamp your name or an significant date, etc. Or even turn these into friendship bracelets.

They would be a grand present for a friends birthday, or even when the holidays start to roll around.

The way this year is flying by, December will be here before you know it.
